Mentor Mom
Program: Community of Caring
Description:
- Serve as a mentor to a young mother in need of support
- Assist with questions concerning parenthood and child development
Responsibilities:
- Mentor will be matched with a young mother in need of support during her pregnancy and after birth
- Meet with the mother a minimum of 4-6 hours a month
- Provide support through face to face meetings and telephone contact
- Possibly provide transportation to necessary appointments
- Report to the Mentor Moms Program Director once a month
Selection Process:
- Mentor will undergo an interview
- Mentor will attend a three hour training
- A background check will be conducted
- Match will be monitored by the Mentor Moms Coordinator
- Ongoing monthly support will be provided as needed
Skills/Qualifications:
- Female with parenting experience preferred
- Own transportation and valid driver's license
- Can pass back ground check and child abuse registry
Time/Location
- 4-6 hrs a month for a period of one year
- Mentor will be matched with a mother close to their community
